yes and yes, but if you take niacin be ready for the side effects like a very uncomfortable albeit brief rash all over the body and an extreme heat flash. it goes away in like 15 min though. But this will not be a full detox.

Niacin is used to prevent or take care of niacin deficiency (pellagra). which can come from alcohol abuse, drug use, poor diet and other things. it will take care of problems caused by certain substances and circumstances but im not sure it is a full detox.

Detox your body from what? Niacin (vitamin B3) is needed for proper circulation and healthy skin. It aids in the functioning of the nervous system, in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, and in the production of hydrochloric acid for the digestive system. It is involved in the normal secretion of bile and stomach fluids, and in the synthesis of *** hormones. Niacin lowers cholesterol and improves circulation. It is helpful for schizophrenia and other mental illnesses, and is also a memory enhancer.
Cranberry acidifies the urine and prevents bacteria from adhering to the bladder. Helpful for infections of the urinary tract. Also a good source of vitamin c.
So, to answer your question – niacin is not used to detox the body. If you want to detox, or to learn about detox, go to and read through this site – it will explain everything and is a great product! Good Luck!
P.S. Pellagra is very rare in the United States.

niacin is very safe but its not the only way to detox your body, rather its not a complete detox. To completely detox and cleanse your body you need to use several types of herbs, plants and teas along with specific types of minerals. my best advice to you would be the Cleanse for life product from ISAGENIX. You can get further info. at

Thats It is right. Its called a niacin flush. Its safe, but it does look like an allergic reaction. You look like a lobster, especially around the face, shoulders, elbows, and knees. It happens when your body absorbs a large quantity of niacin. I’ve had this happen to me a few times. Try to apply a cool cloth to the affected areas. It usually goes away in about 15 to 30 minutes.

If you decide to take niacin stay away from the timed release as this is very liver toxic.
